HYDRON® ANTI-FOG COATING MXL Industries' Hydron® Anti-Fog Coating is a proprietary hydrophilic polymer based coating that provides clear, permanent anti-fogging properties to Polycarbonate substrates. It is typically applied by dip coating followed by thermal cure in the 200° - 250° F range. Typical thickness is approximately .25 mils. As the coating is hydrophilic base, effectiveness depends on the combined effects of varying factors including relative humidity, temperature and length of exposure. Upon saturation, the coated product can be removed from service and allowed to "dry out" at which time it can be re-activated and re-used at the same effectiveness as originally experienced. When properly applied the coating provides 100% adhesion when subjected to a cross-hatch adhesion test per ASTM D-3002-71. The coating has shown good to excellent resistance to a variety of chemical vapors and immersions, however, chemical resistance must be evaluated on an individual basis due to the many variable factors such as concentration, temperature and exposure times. GENERAL CARE OF COATED PRODUCTS: Never Dry Wipe! Before cleaning, always rinse first with cool, running water to remove surface grit. If necessary, wash gently with a mild soap solution, rinse and wipe dry with a soft cloth or tissue. Exercise care in wiping whenever the coating is wet. Shake off excess water and wipe gently in a single direction. Never use commercial glass cleaners or any product containing ammonia or abrasives. Additional polishes, sprays or rub-ons are not recommended. ANTI-FOG ACTIVATION: Maximum anti-fog performance is obtained if the Anti-Fog Coating is activated before each use. With the shield at room temperature, simply breathe on the inner surface until it no longer fogs. This "charges" the coating and helps prevent the formation of fog.
